From the Archives

The Cadet Nurse Corps (1943–1948) was established to increase nurses’ recruitment and education for practice in civilian and military settings during World War II. Over 1,100 participating schools educated these nurses, including Georgetown’s School of Nursing. Dozens of Georgetown nursing diploma graduates were Cadets, and several later earned the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Today, Georgetown ROTC students in the BSN program are commissioned as military officers upon graduation. | Photo: Georgetown University Archives
